Being a lineman isn’t easy, whether you’re shutting down the run, or restoring power in the wake of a storm. At NEC, we salute all linemen, from the gridiron to the power pole. Now and until December, NEC will recognize one hard-working high school football lineman along with an NEC lineman. Congratulations to our #Lineman2Lineman October players – Arturo Gonzalez from Banquete High School and NEC’s Journey Line Worker Raymund Pina!

Student: Arturo Gonzalez

School: Banquete High School

Grade: 11

Hometown: Banquete, TX

Sports Played: Football, Track, and Powerlifting

Years Playing Football: 5 Years

Football Position: Right Tackle

Notable Highlights: Started every game since Freshmen year. Honorable Mention Offensive Line 2020 as a sophomore 3A-DII.

Quote From Nominator: Arturo has a great work ethic. He has good grades and excellent character. He shows up every day like a blue collar worker and does his job. He participates in FFA and AG mechanics. Arturo also assisted in the community clean up with the school’s AG department.

Lineman: Raymund Pina

Hometown: Ricardo, TX

Sports Played: Basketball

Favorite Sports Team: Dallas Cowboys

Years Working As A Lineman: 23 Years

Best Thing About Being A NEC Lineman: It gives me pride to be able to provide electricity for our community and follow in my father and older brothers’ footsteps by being a lineman. Every day is rewarding knowing that I was able to “brighten” someone’s day by providing their homes with electricity.

How Do You Support Your Team: I support my team by always being available to provide assistance and answer any questions my fellow coworkers have. My team knows they can depend on me and call on me anytime for help and answer any questions that come up.

Quote From Supervisor: Raymund is a conscientious worker who not only devotes himself whole heartedly to any assignment he’s given but is also dedicated to his fellow linemen; he leads by example and puts safety as a top priority. His willingness to jump in and “get the job done” and accountability is admirable and much appreciated.
