    NEC Arbor Day
    The greenest day
    of the year!

Why Arbor Day?

A properly planted tree can save members hundreds of dollars on their electric bill by providing shade in the summer and wind barriers in the winter. Click here to find out more information on energy saving trees.

In addition to saving members money, Nueces Electric maintains a constant concern for reliability and public safety. That's why we invest a significant budget each year to trimming trees away from power lines. Most often, power outages are caused by branches hitting transformers or trees falling onto lines.

Remember to trim your trees to ensure branches will always be 10' from power lines. Use the guide below when determining where to plant trees and shrubs at your home.

It's our greenest day of the year, and one we look forward to!  Handing out trees at the annual Arbor Day Tree Giveaway, has become a great opportunity for Co-op employees to put faces with members' names. Seeing smiles on adults and kids faces makes the day even more special.
