260 NEC members remain without power at this time. NEC line workers have demonstrated they are true heros today and they aren't done yet as they work to get the lights back on for the last 260 members. They appreciate you, our member's, patience throughout this restoration process. Winds have died down and NEC crews are hard at work restoring power to about 3,800 members impacted by the storm. About 1600 members in the Ricardo, Rivera, and Sarita area remain without power due to a loss of transmission poles. NEC's crews continue to work and more updates will be provided as available.

Hurricane Hanna Update 7/25, 8 pm

NEC members in the Kingsville, Ricardo, Riviera and Sarita areas have been heavily impacted by Hurricane Hanna as they experience a widespread outage due to the damaged transmission system of South Texas Electric Cooperative (STEC). Almost 2,700 members are currently without power in that area, and the outage will last for an extended period of time due to the unsafe conditions that currently exist in the area with continued high winds. STEC will address the area damage as soon as it's safe to do so. NEC crews will also support the effort.
