Storms and Tornado Warning wreak havoc on NEC service area
UPDATE 5:30pm: Our crews have worked tirelessly today restoring power to the hundreds of members without. At this point, 147 members are still without but our crews will continue to work until each and every member is restored. Thank you for your continued patience as we work to knock out some of the tougher outages.
UPDATE 1:40pm: From more than 1250 out of power at the peak of these storms, our brave linemen have been able to restore power to nearly 500 members in the last hour. They will continue working through these stormy conditions to make more repairs to get the power back on to the remaining 700+ members out of power. Hopefully, the worst of the storm has passed at this point.
12:20 p.m. - A large portion of our service territory is under a Tornado WARNING until 1 p.m. The winds and lightning in this storm are being especially damaging to our system with approximately 1,000 members out of power. As soon as it is safe to do so, our linemen will begin repairs.
We encourage everyone to stay indoors and shelter in place throughout the remainder of the storm. Always stay far away from downed power lines and call to report any damage to our system at 1-800-NEC-WATT.
