Outage Texting Delayed

Nueces Electric Cooperative originally planned to launch its Outage Texting program in June 2019. The new program which would alert members of power outages during storms or other electrical interferences, has been delayed.
                                        
In an effort to keep up to date with member communications, NEC developed its Outage Texting program to answer the two most common questions our members want to know in an outage (1) Does NEC know we are out of power? (2) How long until power can be restored?

Members will be notified when their power goes out through an outage text messaging system. Members will also receive an estimated time frame of when power is expected to be restored. It is important for our members to have an active, working phone number on file which NEC can reach in case of emergencies. Members will have the option of opting out of Outage Texting by replying “Stop”.

While this tool will be an excellent resource in the event of severe weather and power outages, the program is still being perfected. The Outage Texting program will not be released until NEC can ensure it works as efficiently as possible for all of our members. 

We encourage our members to monitor our Facebook page and our website, nueceselectric.org for Outage Texting updates and frequently asked questions. NEC will continue to improve communication methods for our members  to continuously fulfill our mission of providing reliable, cost-effective electric service in a culture where safety is a priority.
